In 2026, Wyckham Blackwell proudly celebrates 60 years since we first began designing and manufacturing timber Roof Trusses, a milestone that reflects both innovation and craftsmanship.
Wyckham Blackwell’s journey into Roof Truss manufacturing began in 1966, when we were approached by Morris & Jacombs to supply Trusses for 500 homes designed by the City of Birmingham. Incredible as it may seem today, the Trusses were made from 4×2 timber with metal plate connectors, and calculations were provided by the plate supplier. All were identical, 22.5° pitch and had a 24-foot span. At the time, we had no press, no jigs, only confidence and determination. We were awarded the contract, and from that point, our journey as a trussed rafter manufacturer began.
Today, the contrast couldn’t be greater. We have made significant investments in state-of-the-art machinery, including a new 65-metre-long Roof Truss pedestal production line, two Hundegger production saws and a laser set Wolf table press, allowing us to manufacture complex, high-volume truss solutions with unmatched accuracy, speed, and efficiency. This evolution reflects our continued commitment to innovation, quality, and supporting our clients with the very best in engineered timber solutions.
Today, our Roof Trusses form a part of the broader range of timber engineering products, and we remain committed to driving timber innovation forward, just as we’ve done for generations. We’d like to thank our customers, partners and dedicated team for helping us reach this incredible milestone.
